The mystery incident, the second involving shipping in the strategic sea lane in only a few weeks, came amid spiralling tensions between Tehran and Washington, which has pointed the finger at Iran over tanker attacks in May. Un pétrolier a été saisi par l’Iran mercredi dans les eaux du Golfe, le deuxième en moins d’une semaine, a déclaré la Ve Flotte de la marine américaine dans un communiqué.
« Le navire pétrolier Niovi, battant pavillon panaméen, a été saisi par la marine des Gardiens de la Révolution alors qu’il transitait par le détroit d’Ormuz », a dit l’US Navy dans un communiqué.
L’armée iranienne a annoncé jeudi dernier s’être emparée d’un pétrolier battant pavillon des Îles Marshall, l’Advantage Sweet selon la marine américaine, dans le golfe d’Oman après une collision avec un bateau iranien.
